Michael D.  Marino

Michael D. Marino, BA Russian Studies '11, is the director of class giving, Columbia College Fund, at Columbia University. He also holds a Masters in Education in college student affairs administration from the University of Georgia (2015).  

Marino passionately believes that a college education can change someone’s life and has dedicated his career to helping people achieve this change. Through his work at Columbia, he has overseen the growth of two affinity scholarships by more than 150% and established a third scholarship for LGBTQ+ student leaders that reached its annual fundraising goal within 24 hours of launching. He has presented at national and regional conferences on his work with affinity giving. Marino also works with individual alumni donors to help them connect their interests to philanthropic opportunities at Columbia. His career in higher education began with engaging with students while overseeing student activities, fraternity and sorority life, and leadership and community service programs.  
 
Marino is a director at large for the George Mason University Alumni Association and has previously served as the president of the Lambda alumni chapter where he worked to reestablish this dormant chapter for LGBTQ+ Mason alumni. He has also volunteered with George Mason’s Office of Admissions and as a leadership program facilitator and committee member for the Delta Chi Fraternity and Delta Chi Educational Foundation.
